Environmentally Responsible

At Möbel Link, the passion for design is matched only by an unflagging commitment to operate in a manner that preserves and protects the earth’s resources. All of our furniture is made from sustainably grown and harvested, formaldehyde-free plywood. Our unique, precision computer-cutting process allows craftspersons to make one entire chair, bench or table out of a single sheet of plywood. By using 85% of that single sheet, less wood is wasted - resulting in reduced deforestation & far less strain on our nation’s landfills.

Modern Furniture - Ipana Chair

We hope that you had a Happy Thanksgiving from Möbel Link Modern Furniture. While you are recovering from your food coma, I thought that you might be interested to see the The Ipana Chair. This chair is as comfortable and durable as it is beautiful. This piece was conceived to bring the comfort back into sitting about the house or workplace.

This piece, like all other pieces of Möbel Link Furniture, is possible to make from one sheet of wood which helps to ensure the well-being of our planet while providing you with the joy of relaxing in this chair. Too long have we let rigid and uncomfortable furniture domineer our homes, be part of the Möbel Link Rebellion!

Last Friday was the beginning of the Re-Toolkit for Detroit, a study funded by the Research on the City program at the Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning at the University of Michigan. This project was a great event for the city of Detroit during this rebound from a large-scale economic crisis. This program brought great leaders from around the city together and helped to show the organs that keep the city alive. It brought me no greater pleasure than to meet fellow craftsmen and artists from around the city. This project was brought together through the hard-work of 4 professors and 6 students Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning and the Penny W. Stamps School of Art and Design at University of Michigan.

The Researchers consisted of: Heidi Beebe, a Lecturer in the Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning, and a founding partner of Beebe Skidmore Architects, based in Portland, Oregon and Detroit, Michigan, Julia McMorrough, an Associate Professor of Practice in Architecture in the Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning, John Marshall, an Assistant Professor in the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design, and Assistant Professor in the Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning, and Seth Ellis an Assistant Professor in the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design.

This project maps out urban trends in Detroit and definitely is a great step towards helping to bring the city back together. I hope that you will look into visiting it at http://retoolkitdetroit.org/directory.php.

I felt a little reminiscent of my past works done at AK services as I saw a stack of magazine cut-outs as I was doing a little bit of organizing today. I thought it would be interesting to take you on a trip to the past and see the roots of AK services to help understand how it bloomed into Möbel Link. This is an article from the Fall Edition of Better Homes and Gardens in 1997.
