Last Friday was the beginning of the Re-Toolkit for Detroit, a study funded by the Research on the City program at the Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning at the University of Michigan. This project was a great event for the city of Detroit during this rebound from a large-scale economic crisis. This program brought great leaders from around the city together and helped to show the organs that keep the city alive. It brought me no greater pleasure than to meet fellow craftsmen and artists from around the city. This project was brought together through the hard-work of 4 professors and 6 students Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning and the Penny W. Stamps School of Art and Design at University of Michigan.

The Researchers consisted of: Heidi Beebe, a Lecturer in the Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning, and a founding partner of Beebe Skidmore Architects, based in Portland, Oregon and Detroit, Michigan, Julia McMorrough, an Associate Professor of Practice in Architecture in the Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning, John Marshall, an Assistant Professor in the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design, and Assistant Professor in the Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning, and Seth Ellis an Assistant Professor in the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design.

I felt a little reminiscent of my past works done at AK services as I saw a stack of magazine cut-outs as I was doing a little bit of organizing today. I thought it would be interesting to take you on a trip to the past and see the roots of AK services to help understand how it bloomed into Möbel Link.
